Have you been looking for a good poker game for your iPhone or iPod Touch? Well, look no further! THTouch is a great, cheap iPhone / iPod Touch game that brings poker straight to your phone. THTouch’s User Interface is very nice, and the graphics aren’t too bad either.
Pros:
Saves your last game
Great graphics
Friendly User Interface
Cards seem to “pop” up do to their shadows
Very cheap
Allows you to customize your name
Cons:
None pop in to my mind
THTouch is a great game for maybe waiting in line at the doctor’s office. You’re able to just whip out your iPhone or iPod Touch, play a few games and then it will save your progress on exit! Pit Garbe did a great job on it! THTouch is available in the App Store for a measly $0.99. Overall, HawtApps has rated Pit Garbe’s THTouch a solid 7/10.
Armado is a port of an existing PC and Mac game in which the company has “completely reworked”. The game is a platformer in which the main character runs, jumps, rolls and smashes his way through enemies and obstacles.
Below you can view a gameplay video from the developers.
The creator of the ever popular $0.99 iFish game has now brought hunting to the iPhone too! Or well, at least he tried. You can view the list of pros and cons HawtApps has compiled, below:
Pros:
First hunting game
Uses the accelerometer
Realistic hunting sounds
Cons:
Deer are stationary
When shot, the deer fall like cardboard pieces would
Pheasants and pigeons don’t flap their wings
NEEDS animation
Not free
Normally, “not free” would not be on the cons list, but in the state iHunt is in right now it deserves to be free. Wait until the developer releases an update (if he does) before you buy it. And don’t worry, we’ll let you know if he does. John Moffett did a disappointing job on this one. iHunt is available in the App Store for $0.99. Overall, HawtApps has rated John Moffett’s iHunt a mediocre 2/10.
If you like shooters, you should just get this game.
It’s funny how we frequently get more excited about the simple games than the high profile efforts. In the end, however, it’s all about the gameplay.
John Kooistra’s Defend! [App Store] is a $0.99 iPhone shooter with relatively simple graphics and no sound. The controls of the game, however, are remarkably well suited to the platform and already feels like a “classic” iPhone game.
You are defender of a planet with a population of 6.7 billion people. You job is to fight off an oncoming barrage of enemies. Each enemy that gets past you takes out millions of lives.
Controls are dead simple. You continuously fire straight up, and tilting the iPhone left and right adjusts your aim. The game also cleverly shifts orientation between levels, requiring you to turn your iPhone around or into landscape position. The video shows it best:
Progressive levels are increasingly challenging and provides a good amount of gameplay. Normally, we frown upon games without sound, but for $0.99 and an otherwise fun game, we can overlook it.

Are you looking for a great way to waste some time and have fun with it? Or maybe a Tetris replacement? Or maybe you’re just into having all the latest, coolest iPhone games. Well, whatever the reason, Topple is the choice to go with. Topple is probably one of the most well-designed iPhone / iPod Touch application out there. Topple makes great use of the iPhone / iPod Touch’s gorgeous 3.5 inch touch screen, and uses the accelerometer. The object of Topple is to stack the blocks up to the Goal Line, and then to the Bonus Line if you have enough time. The blocks are very funny, having upset or angry faces until they are placed down. Topple is pretty much like Tetris, in my opinion, but a revamped version.
Using the iPhone / iPod Touch’s accelerometer you can tilt the screen to keep blocks from toppling. The user (you) can drag, rotate and stack the blocks by touching them. Topple has amazing graphics and sound effects. And let’s not forget about the great music Topple has. Topple gives you 10 awesome levels of fun and challenges.
Pros:
Amazing graphics
Good sound FX
Great game-play
Very cheap
Keeps track of your highest stacked block
Very polishedÂ
Uses the iPhone / iPod Touch’s accelerometer
Uses the iPhone / iPod Touch’s touch screen
Cons:
Needs an online high score feature
Needs more levels
Despite those concerns, Topple is still an amazing game. ngmoco, Inc. did an outstanding job and should be patting themselves on the back. Topple is available in the App Store for a measly $0.99, which is underpriced if you ask me. Overall, HawtApps has rated ngmoco’s Topple an outstanding 10/10!
Are you a fan of the RISK? If yes, then this is a must have game on your iPhone; As it offers a fairly similar game play as RISK. Lux Touch is a fast pace strategy game combined with a nice, smooth, and creative User Interface, with great graphics. This game can get you involved with lots of thinking, like what are the strategic locations to place your armies/forces, where you must defend your area, and much more.
In the beginning of the game you are start with random locations of your forces/army and your wining objective is to conquer the other 3 colors/forces. This is the simple description/gameplay of the game, but it involves lots of thinking while playing. Try it out yourself.
Pros:
• Attractive graphics and User Interface
• Nice sound effects
• Fun, challenging and exciting
• Great use of the iPhone / iPod Touch’s touch screen
• It’s free!
Cons:
• No multiplayer
• No tutorial for first time players
• Only one map
Lux Touch is a great game not just for bus ride, or waiting in a long line, or even on a flight. It can be played anytime you feel bored and want something to exercise your brain. Lux Touch is played in landscape mode, so no portrait. Sillysoft Games did a great job with this one! Lux Touch is available in the App Store for free (but a newer, payed for version will be coming out soon). Overall, HawtApps has rated Lux Touch a solid 7/10!
Ah, finally a decent fishing game (not that iFish isn’t). Hooked: Pocket Fishing offers a variety of different choices for its users. I’d suggest to get iFish if you’re not into much variety for fishing, and if you want beautiful scenery.
Pros:
Pretty decent graphics
Offers a lot of variety
Utilizes the iPhone / iPod Touch’s touch screen
Has a trophy room that keeps track of your catches and how many pounds they weigh
Pretty neat icon
Good sound effects
3 different lakes to choose from
Allows you to set the time of when you’re fishing
Multiple rods and reels to choose from
9 great bait / lures to use
2 different rigs
Option for a bobber or no bobber
Offers a huge variety of fish
Offers a fisherman’s guide - gives you information about the lakes, fish and gear
Vibrates when a fish bites (only if you’re using an iPhone)
Uses the iPhone / iPod Touch’s accelerometer
Cons:
Crashes a lot
Graphics could be a lot better
Needs more gear to choose from
Only 3 lakes
Needs to allow you to submit your biggest fish to an online high score board
Despite those concerns, Hooked: Pocket Fishing is still a great game! Though, a small issue with the control is that the game seems to slow down and get kind of “chunky” when reeling in a fish. With no fish on, the reel animation is perfectly smooth - when a fish is on, everything seems to stutter - but this does not really detract from the game. Hooked: Pocket Fishing allows you to catch the following fish:
Alligator Gar
Black Crappie
Blue Catfish
Bluegill
Channel Catfish
Flathead Catfish
Freshwater Drum
Green Sunfish
Largemouth Bass
Redear Sunfish
Smallmouth Bass
Spotted Bass
Striped Bass
White Bass
White Crappie
Yellow Perch
Hooked: Pocket Fishing also has three lakes to choose from:
Lake Amistad
Lake Folsum
Lake Martin
I personally like Lake Folsum the best. Hooked: Pocket Fishing has a nice User Interface, and utilizes the iPhone / iPod Touch’s 3.5 inch touch screen. Hooked: Pocket Fishing’s controls are very simple. Tap to select, flick to cast and reel. Once again, I only recommend Hooked: Pocket Fishing to those of you who would like to have more variety in fishing. Otherwise, go with iFish. Ryan Goodnight and Ben Spratling did an awesome job! Hooked: Pocket Fishing can be purchased in the App Store for $1.99, which is a pretty decent price for what you get. Overall, HawtApps has rated Ben Spratling and Ryan Goodnight’s Hooked: Pocket Fishing a good 7/10!
